Lynda Bailey

Marcia: Hi, Lynda! Welcome to my blog!
Lynda: To begin with, I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to Marcia James for hosting me the entire month of November on her blog. THANK YOU, MARCIA!
1. Lynda, I hear you have a pitbull in one of your novels and wolf shifters in another. Tell us about the books.
I have a red-nosed pitbull in my contemporary, polyamorous, BDSM romance, Mended Trust. It’s the second in my Trustworthy Texas Trilogy series.
Mended Trust blurb:
Ford loves Zoe. Jenna loves Zoe. Zoe loves both Ford and Jenna.
How do three people fit together, not only as friends, but as lovers and eventual family members?
Sometimes love does conquer all.
Please note, Mended Trust is a mere 99 cents for the month of November so grab a digital copy. The Amazon buy link is https://www.amazon.com/Mended-Trust-Trustworthy-Texas-Trilogy-ebook/dp/B0736YJFLZ
The wolf shifters are in my new adult paranormal with romantic elements, Alyce–Through the Lycan Glass. And yeah, I realize the vast differences between those two genres. But the Muse wants to write what the Muse wants to write. *shrug*
Alyce–Through the Lyan Glass blurb:
A Paranormal Twist on the Lewis Carroll classic…
What would you do if your normal world got turned upside down? Or rather, tossed down a rabbit hole? Find out with Alyce as she travels Through the Lycan Glass.

2. Why did you add a pitbull to Mended Trust?
I put Dodger (the pitbull) in Mended Trust to honor Kim, who’s my kink coach. Because I’m not actually in the kink culture, I thought it super important to have the input of someone familiar with the lifestyle to ensure I didn’t make any completely egregious misstatements and/or mistakes. Also, I hadn’t had a dog in any of my stories so far and thought it was past time to add a pup.
Plus, I looooooove dogs–as well as cats. 😊 There’s a mama cat and her kittens in the final novella of my anthology, Heartache and Hopeful, but no dogs until Dodger.
On a personal note, while Hubs and I currently have two rescue pups and no cats, we’ve had plenty of cats in the past. I won’t start the debate about if dogs are better than cats or visa versa. Suffices both canines and felines are welcomed in our home.
3. What other books have you written?
To date, I have 10 books in print, plus several short stories and novellas, available digitally. I just mentioned Heartache and Hopeful, which is an anthology of four novellas, all BDSM themed.

Most of my stories are non-suspense contemporary, but I do have one historical, set in post-Civil War America titled Wildflower, one romantic suspense, On a Knife’s Edge, set in the fictional town of Stardust, Nevada, and Alyce–Through the Lyan Glass, which, as a reminder, is a new adult paranormal with romantic elements.
Generally speaking, I prefer to write contemporary stories because I kinda hate doing the world building necessary for paranormal or fantasy. I also pretty much hate the research needed to write historicals.
When it came to writing On a Knife’s Edge, I was often twisted into knots trying to get the right amount of suspense and believable red herrings to flow in the story. Still, somehow I succeeded–or so I’ve been told. 😊

4. Tell us about your kudos or reviews.
Most of my reviews share one thing in common–the readers seem to enjoy the emotional depth I manage to bring to my characters. I like to think I learned this trait from reading stories by the incredible Lorraine Heath. She brings complexity to her characters I can only dream of duplicating.
As far as kudos go, Wildflower was a finalist in the Historical Category for the RWA® (Romance Writers of America®) Golden Heart® contest in 2010.
Several of my books, including Mended Trust, were also finalists in other RWA® contests. In fact, Alyce–Through the Lycan Glass was the winner (when she was called Alyce in Werewolf Land) in the Paranormal Category for NTRWA’s (a special chapter of RWA®) Great Expectations Contest all the way back in 2011. (Yeah, it took a while for that one to get over the finish line.) 😉
5. How do you promote your books?
Promotion/marketing is the bane of an author’s existence. (Can I get an “amen” from the crowd?) I’ve tried various avenues for promotion/marketing over the years with some being more successful than others. It seemed, however, once I hit on a (sorta) winning strategy, the rules invariably get changed and I have to start all over. ☹
I hired a lovely PA several years ago, and she takes care of the majority of my social media posts. Otherwise, it’s pretty much a catch-as-catch-can situation. Still, whether I sell a million books or none, I don’t think I’ll ever stop putting my stories out there. Being a storyteller is ingrained in my DNA. I simply can’t see myself ever giving it up.
